Né à Hambourg en 1962, John Lanchester a passé son enfance à Calcutta, Rangoon, Brunei, Hong Kong. Etudes à Oxford. Après avoir été pendant trois ans critique gastronomique à l’Observer, il est actuellement rédacteur-en-chef adjoint de la London Review of Books.Le Prix du plaisir qui est son premier roman est en cours de publication dans une vingtaine de langues. Couronné par le Betty Trask Award, il vient de recevoir le Whitbread Prize du premier roman.
